The great Bode Miller has struck again. Normally known for his crazy speed and his knack for taking unbelievable risks, Bode tried something different this time.He focused on the hill and showed restraint. He claims that the birth of his daughter helped him realize that he doesn’t always have to be so risky in order to be effective. (I’m sure laying off the booze and partying less helped too). So he’s scaled back his risk taking and adopted a little more technique. That strategy proved successful today as Bode Miller snagged a bronze medal. Now you may be saying “What? No gold?”. No, but he was happy with his performance and was oh so close. Out of the gold by just .09 seconds. .02 seconds from capturing silver. Here’s what Miller had to say after the race….
“I wanted to let it go. I was definitely fired up. I went out of the start like I wanted to win this thing. This is a unique opportunity to feed off the crowd’s energy and all the energy around the whole Games. I’m gonna keep doing it and hopefully I’ll make less mistakes, and if I make less mistakes, I’m gonna be on top.
“[Today's result] doesn’t really change much about how I feel about the races coming up except that I know I’m gonna be fired up and going for the win.”
Sounds like a change of attitude and a little humble pie have made the great Bode Miller….well….GREATER! Stay tuned as he has more races to come. I expect at least a few more medals.
