Some of you may have heard about the young father/husband who collapsed and later passed away right after finishing the Rock and Roll Marathon here in Dallas this last weekend. Truly a heartbreaking story. It has come to our attention that a few of our Hot Read Sports readers were close friends with the family. So Hot Read Sports wants to help out the Austry family anyway we can. Please read the following and donate (if you can or your budget allows). The website where you can get more information is http://www.active.com/donate/austry
On Sunday, March 14th, Mark Austry was running his first half-marathon alongside his brother in the Rock n Roll Dallas half-marathon. He crossed the finish line, exchanged a high five with his brother, collapsed and later passed away at a local hospital.
Mark, a Former Texas Tech Baseball Player and avid lover of golf, was in excellent shape with no apparent health problems. He touched the souls of so many around him and brought joy to life in so many ways. He was a father who loved to dance every night with his two girls, a husband who loved and adored his wife, a son and a brother who made his family proud, and a loving friend to so many.
In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a college trust fund for daughter’s Isabella (age 3) and Anna (age 1).
You can donate, here, online, or if you would like to mail a check, please mail it to:
