The Winter Games haven’t even officially kicked off and tragedy has struck. During a training run, Nodar Kumaritashvili, was killed when he lost control of his sled went over the wall and struck a steel post. Doctors on the scene tried to revive the 21 year old luger from the Soviet Republic of Georgia, but their attempts were unsuccessful. Kumaritashvili becomes only the third Winter Olympian to die since 1924. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of this courageous athlete.
